    Poor service

The place is cramped (even after their added another room), the service is not good, and the food is mediocre. They should place more space between the tables by removing a couple tables, hire better servers who can speak proper English and stop pressuring their customers to finish their meal so they can make room for another group.

    Ok service for cheap food

I expected to get some good, cheap thai food. I asked the waitress whether the pad thai or pad see-iew was better. She told me they were different and after not understandind that I meant Coke, as in Coca-Cola, I knew the meal could only get better. I was given a small salad with the lunch special. It had a fresh, clean taste, with a peanut-y sauce that was awesome. The plate it came on was entirely too small and the iceberg lettuce did not work well with the cabbage and carrot. After the waitress took the salad plate, I was immediately given the pad thai, with no pause. The service was entirely slapdash. Back to the pad thai. The pad thai tasted different from the pad thai i've eaten and was really dark and salty. Thinking it would brighten up the flavor, i squeezed the accompanying lime, though it did not do a thing. the portion was huge and filling. If you're looking for a good value, for $7.25, it is cheap. However, I am averse to the whole American portion, so the pad thai was too big for me. It also didn't have enough bean sprouts and peanuts and the chicken was gummy and bland. After the pad thai, i was promptly given the check. $10.02 for pad thai(lunch special) and a coke. after getting back change for a 20, i decided not to give any tip, since the waitress was curt, too fast and didn't help when I asked for her opinion. However, another waitess asked me if i was giving tip and she guilt-tripped me into giving 2 dollars(thats 20%, so I was pretty generous given the circumstances). So if you're looking for cheap, filling food, go to galanga. But it's far from perfect and the waitresses aren't nice.

    Best Thai Place Ever

This place is my favorite thai place EVER. The food is absolutely amazing-- everyone that I bring here falls in love with it! My boyfriend and I come here a few times a month! The space isn't too big, but that's not at all a problem! GREAT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY! Try the grilled shrimp cucumber salad & their calamari.

    Great Wok Food

I had this dish from their menu: Cashew Nut classic stir fried of cashew nut, onion, scallion, celery and bell pepper. It was served relatively quickly. The place is small, and they had perhaps four tables, with three to five per table. The spice level was perfect for me, just right. It is served with a bowl of white rice, somewhat sticky, the way I like it for this dish. One of my guests had the same thing, and the third had a vegetarian dish. I tasted it. Great. With no drinks, the bill came to about $30. I would go there again, for sure.

    Consistently The Best

Love Galanga. The best in NYC. Cheap and creative. The grilled shrimp with cucumber salad is AMAZING. Pad Thai is my favorite anywhere in the country. But I've never had anything I didn't love. Highly recommend!

    a weekly ritual

My friend and I come here all the time--the waitresses know our orders by heart. Out of the many Thai places I've tried in the city, Galanga is the only place that I keep coming back to and eat at on a weekly basis. Everything I've had here is wonderful. The space is small, but the food is worth it.
