Good food, poor service
Went there last night for a quick meal and drink. Food was good, but our waitress rarely came over to the table and seemed like she couldn't be bothered. It wasn't like she was busy, she just didn't care. I'm a waitress as well, so I know what remotely decent service is, and she didn't provide it. My friend and I split the check on our cards. He left the tip on his slip, and I just signed off on my slip, keeping my receipt. Well today I check my account, and I see that Miss Waitress of the Year took it upon herself to add a tip in where I had drawn a line. Every server knows that if you're going to add your own tip, make sure your customer doesn't keep their own copy showing how much was supposed to be charged! Very unprofessional, and very undeserving of the 20[%] tip she gave to herself.

Casual, fun, Unusual twists
I had two good meals here recently. There are some odd things on the menu, so I can't vouch for everything, but I had a caesar salad with shrimp, which I liked, and my date had soft tacos with shrimp, avocado, black beans and rice which she liked as well. My salad had baked cubes of tofu instead of croutons, which was fun and the tacos had cabbage instead of lettuce, which worked pretty well. The shrimp were fresh and nicely grilled. We shared some green tea ice cream which was flavorful. The place is casual and funky with twinkling star lights on the ceiling. Nothing amazing, but a nice place in a neighborhood with a lot of high-end restaurants. I recommend it before going to one of the nearby theaters or maybe Irving Plaza.

Unique and healthy FTW!
I don't know about the more recent reviews, but I've been visiting the Galaxy more recently since I started working in the area. Our waitress was VERY knowledgeable and friendly, and made several recommendations on tea and entrees that my husband and I were quite pleased with. The presentation of all the dishes, especially the drinks and the curries, are delightful. The seasonings are complex but not overwhelming and the service is fast. I will definitely go back. If you like seaweed salad - get theirs - it's really great and HUGE!

shame..
this used to be my all time favorite restaurant about 6 years ago or so. Since then it's definitely changed though. Service is rude. Went in for just drinks one night and the waitress was very haughty about asking for our ID's and seemed bored/irritated by our presence. We were the only people there! The food isn't what it used to be, either. I remember the "fries" they used to have were amazing, but seriously lacking during my last visit. Drinks are strong at least, as they should be for the prices they charge...

Not what it used to be...
My boyfriend and I used to go here once a week until we moved out of the neighborhood. We went back a few weeks ago and were REALLY disappointed. The staff is rude and while the menu is eccentric, the quality of the food is poor compared to what it was two years ago. I was a huge fan of this place but after my last experience, the food was so lackluster that I'll never go back. It's a shame -- I used to consider this one of my hidden gems but it's not anymore.

Unusual and delicious
Very unusual food, and cheap! The enchilada had flavors I didn't know, but the best was actually the side of rice and guacamole. When the sides win, you know the kitchen is serious. Don't miss the Key lime pie. The name is silly, the decor too. And yet it is very cozy and low-key. Went there after 10pm, and being at one of just 2-3 occupied tables made it intimate. I will go again until I have worked through the whole menu.

Why isn't this place all over the world?
I can't believe this place doesn't have multiple locations. Finally a restaurant that actually thinks about food choices and alternatives to the same ole crap. Absolutely exhilarating! When was the last time you had an eel burger or seaweed caviar. I am going to tell all my friends. Such a cool vibe too.
