    great korean food

i went here for a friends' birthday not too long ago. we got seated in a corner all lonely from the rest of the restaurant guests. and basically we were invisible to the waitstaff. no1 helped us when they should have and we basically had to remind them constatnly of what we ordered and aare still waiting for. u can ask them for ice water but they will never come to you. i had the codfish as recommended by nymagazine. its pretty unique becuae ive never had fish that is boiled, tomato sauced, and w/e has been done to it. it was just lacking a bit of some yummy taste. i recommend the seafood pancakes because they are awesome! its like shanghai scallion pacncake except its split into slices

    Everything was great

I visited Gama for the first time over Valentine's day and I have to say that it was a good choice. The service was attentive and helpful when we had questions even with the language barrier, (as our server did not speak English as her first language). The food itself was great. Beef and pork dumplings were tasty. The shortribs in sweet sauce were excellent. The Spicy squid with noodles was tasty and very hot though I think the squid was a little over cooked. Aside from that the food was sensational. The value also was great, for 2 people 1 app, 2 drinks and 2 entrees was about $50. I also recommend the watermelon soju.

    Attentive service!

Much more spacious than the other restaurants on St. Marks and has a nice setting. The food was tasty, and the servers were really friendly and attentive to our needs. I never found myself with an unfilled glass of water! If you're looking for a change of pace from the restaurants in K-town, then don't be afraid to give this spot a try!

So glad it's in my neighborhood!

What a great find! I love this restaurant - they have consistently great food with great service. There are few restaurants I have been to in NYC that solicit a direct response to "where do you want to eat tonight", but Gamma is one of them! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but I totally favor the tofu with kimchi and pork and the kimchi pancake. Awesome restaurant and a must try for any who like Korean and a good way to get to know this cuisine, as the helpful staff will guide you!

    good

my friends and i usually go to koreantown but decided to give Gama a try. the food was good but found the portions to be smaller. it's a nice restaurant with a bar. the service was good, no complaint except the smaller portions.

    My new favorite Korean Spot

I only visited 32nd street Korean places and didn't even realize that east village had tons. I went here two Fridays in a row. The food is yummy, portions are good and it doesn't hurt your pocket when it's time to pay up. The atmosphere is casual, non-restaurant feel. You can just come here, eat, drink and just chill. Not like most of the 32nd street locations where you are only there to eat and get out. I can't wait to introduce this place to my friends.

    was really really great

but the last time I went there, we got the usuals, and they tasted different. It was still good, but Dak do ri tang was significantly less spicy, which was a let down. Did anyone else notice?
