Hidden gem
Loved this place. We had brunch in the outdoor garden just before it closed. It was not crowded, but the service was attentive and very good. The food surprised us by being so good. The salad was fresh with a lovely vinagrette. The coq au vin was quite good. Ice cream desert likewise. I'll definitely return here.

unpleasant host/sever
I went to gavroche last weekend to be greeted by the same sour nasty server from a few years ago. We were the only ones(2 of us) waiting for our food which took FOREVER. What ever happened to service with a smile. A tip has to be earned not expected. While we love the owner we will not be coming back due to the very rude server who spent most of the time complaining to someone instead of doing his job. If they git rid of this guy then the place will be perfect.

Lovely Garden Setting
This restaurant on 14th Street close to The High Line has a lovely garden. The wait staff was terrific. The food well presented. My friend ordered fish which was scrumptious but I found the Duck Breast a bit on the tough side. However the sauce and acompaniments were delicious.

Excellent French Fare
After trying some of the French bistros in the area, we hit up Gavroche for brunch one Sunday morning. My girlfriend and I were pleasantly surprised with some of the freshest croissants we ever had and delicious, perfectly portioned and presented entrees. After this great meal, we had dinner there and have been hooked ever since. Great French standards, all prepared with the utmost care and served in a beautiful setting with lovely service. One of our favorite restaurants, and can't wait to have dinner in the back garden.

One of our neighborhood favorites
We love this place. The service is great. The food is reliably good, often great. We go back again and again. I love the lamb shank and my daughter loves the duck with lingonberry sauce. The skate is also excellent. The menu changes though, so they don't always have these items. If you're lucky, they'll have foie gras, which is scrumptious and a generous portion.

Great find!
My boyfriend and I went to Gavroche last Friday night. It was wonderful- everything from the wine to the melt in your mouth tilapia. The onion soup was great too. I got the tilapia - which was fantastic. My bf got the scallops with risotto. The staff was very attentive- water was always replenished, which I love. I would most definately go back to Gavroche.

another Noisy dinner
Bottom line: very noisy, can't talk with friends and background music makes it more so. Food is probably good, but is secondary to the scene. If this is what you like, then enjoy it!
