I was really excited to eat at Le Monde again... i enjoy french food, and had a great experience eating here my 1st time, but this was VERY different. the duck confit that I ordered was as dry as the Sahara and the potatoes were no better....I was embarrased for them for serving it to me....I'm not one to waste food, but I sent my entire plate back to the kitchen -C'était dégoûtant...and unfortuntately we paid full-price for the meal. Will I be back?, Probably, but only because J'aime manger des aliments français...et je vis autour du coin

Cheap ingredients, overpriced, poor service... a disgrace. French? Please!

Like I said, not worth it at all. Our food, although it came out relatively quickly, was basically cold. My mashed potatoes looked like they had been sitting there for 15 minutes already. Too pricey, too cold, and our waiter did a decent job at ignoring us most of the time. Disappointing all around. Would NOT go again.

Totally overpriced for what it is. Cheap ingredients, obviously inexperienced cooks, bad cuts of meat. Went there on a Friday night for a special occasion - a real mistake. I could barely chew my steak, which I ordered rare but came basically raw. Frites were good. My beer glass came wet on the inside and out, the table and floor were greasy - my girlfriend almost slipped on what had to be a pat of butter. They like to stick a branch of rosemary into your steak as a garnish.. really unpalatable. The worst part was that a manager - some guy in his early 30's stood next to our table and - it seemed like he was buzzed - talked very loudly with his visiting friends for what seemed like an eternity. It ruined our romantic "dinner". I did not need to know this person's rent, where he was going to school, and what kind of a relationship he had with his brother. Totally unprofessional and obnoxious.

I think they've improved. The waiters were prompt and friendly my last two visits.

It was my first time dining at Le Monde the other day. We were looking for a place to have brunch on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving outside Columbia and didn't want to wait through the crowds next door at Community. We then walked next door to Le Monde. Seeing that it was not-so full, we decided to check the place out. The place - as it was supposed to be - had the pseudo-bistro look of tiled ceramic floors and curved seat-back chairs. Our server was genuinely polite, and was quick to ask for our drinks as soon as we got seated. Since I wanted a quick-and-easy lunch, I decided to have a burger with swiss cheese and 'frites' (I know, why have a burger in a French joint!)... I wasn't really expecting much so when the order came, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the patty - it had great texture, great flavor, and the moistness and tightness of the ground beef was clearly visible as I took each bite. Also, the peach iced tea (which our server recommended) was pretty good even on a cold, wet winter day. This place will definitely be put on my list of lunch choices around campus.

The waiter was nice enough to swap the wine for a more accepable one. The ceasar salad was pretty goodcontained crispy fresh lettuce and a nice proportion of cheese. Now for the negatives: I ordered the hanger steak and my girlfried ordered the steak au poivreboth medium. When the steaks arrived they were medium rare so we sent them back. They were both tasteless and the peppercorn sauce which costs extra was not authentic and did not taste good. The fries were very oily and not browned. We did not want to complain but we will not return. The service could have been better. We waited for an outdoor table for almost an hour in order to enjoy the last days of summer for naught.
