Excellent
A friend of mine used to live down by this place and whenever I was in the neighborhood I'd stop in. My friend has since moved but I still make a trip from 86th st at least once a month to this place. I've had all of the sandwiches on the menu but I like the original and portabello the best (you really cant go wrong with anything though). Great food and great value. Oh, and they always have the Simpsons on the TV so that just bonus.

Great find
The original sandwich here is like nothing else I've ever had. It deserves a trip. I rode my bike here, the people were friendly, and the sandwich was amazing.

Rejoice! They now deliver!
When I was working down that area, Nicky's was a must stop for sandwiches and great summer rolls. Now Nicky's out of reach,so the fact they now offer delivery has elevated them to almost addictive levels! Sure, there are other new (not worth mentioning) banh shops that charge almost DOUBLE what Nicky's charges with less meat. Nicky's sandwiches are fresh, overstuffed and have the perfect balance of spicy, sweet, tangy, and crunch. Goes great with their reasonably priced pho and summer rolls and washing it down with a decent sized, perfectly sweetened Vietnamese coffee makes the meal all the most satisfying! Low delivery minimum, fast service, reasonable prices and good food, why get banh and pho elsewhere?

disappointed once again
their hours state that they are supposed to open at noon. but it's happened several times now that they have opened at least 20 minutes late. not a big deal if you open up at 11am or a time more reasonable. but some of us work from home and have to run out and pickup a quick lunch. i had to give up on them today as i had to get back for a conference call. the price increase didn't bother me much....except that the sandwiches do seem smaller (yes, the other person who posted was right about that). but anyways, sometimes ya got a craving and you decide to put up with things. but having your lunch break ruined again because the workers aren't even there is too much for me.....sorry, but there's other better options in the EV.

go, sarai!
wow, sarai rocks! you tell them! people forget that commercial space in the east village is ridiculously expensive. think about the rent, the cost and all the labor...it's a lot...and for $4.50....that's really a bargain. oh, and im sure all of the workers have their own rent to pay for a house to live in!

Delicious!
Nicky's sandwiches are delicious! A lot of people on menu pages are complaining that Nicky's is pricey. Yes, the sizes are not huge but I don't think I could get a better tasting or more unique sandwich for less anywhere in the neighborhood. Many of the reviews done by various magazines steer you away from any variety other than the original. The original is good but I personally like the chicken sandwich the best.

you must have lived in the rain forest
whoever wrote previous to me must not live around the neighborhood.. I've lived here for over 4 years and my rent is 2700. so for a sandwich with fresh ingredients for only 4.50 is expensive, then you should stick to mcdonalds. I've eaten at nickys aleast 3 times a week and that 3 times cost me less than a pastrami sandwich at gracefullys. so you can stick to your cold cuts which have been sitting there for months. and we'll stick to our toasted fresh vietnamese sandwiches. just to let that moron know. I've lived in brooklyn before and the rent is less than half of what I'm paying now. keep up with inflation or move to a third world country. no worries, new york won't miss a cheap moron like you.
