Terror in the Sky
Poor experience. Friends took me here for birthday and staff was really unfriendly to us. No host to seat us. Instead a waitress came out to help us get a seat after we gave our reservations. Then the owner comes out later and taps us on the shoulder to ask if we have reservations. When we asked for specials, the waiter couldn't really speak English and asked a head waiter to come out. When he came out, he had an attitude and automatically assumed we asked for prix fix. The decor does look like a funeral parlor as one reviewer stated. I wouldn't come here again. Their attitude spoiled my meal. They are too arrogant and need to understand diners have a choice where to spend their money.

winner every time
You've got to go try this place for dinner lunch or brunch. The views are the best 360* of New york. Service is fast and helpful. food gets a five out of five from all of us. i have only one bad thing to say and that is that our table was a little on the small side for four people to be sitting at for dinner. Once water and wine glass's were on the table it became a little tight. There is a roof garden and a large room for holding private partys or a small weddingwith the same views over NY. Just Go i know you'll love it the minute the doors open and you see New york in front of your eyes from this 5 star resturant high in the sky. You'll feel like your a god or at least you'll be treated like one once your here. 10/10

a wonderful experience
Last month I had my wedding at Terrace in the Sky. The food, view, and ambiance was nothing short of phenomenal! They are normally rather pricey. However, for my wedding they gave me a fantastic deal. The service was more than impressive, the whole staff very accomedating to my family and I. The woman at the restaurant that was my contact walked my through everything step by step, and exponetialy eased the stress of my big day. I very highly recommend eating here, wether its dinner for two or dinner for 120.

Are you kidding me?
True, the location is beautiful. The atmosphere in the terrace, however, is ruined by a would-be classy music mix, just as the inside is disfigured by garish, faux-sophisticated items of furniture. And if some people's idea of chic and relaxed is a cheesy harp performance, well, no wonder they should write good reviews of the this terrible place. One cannot even say that the high prices are justified by the setting, since, as I will develop it here, the food was a joke). The ingredients used for the food may be of good quality (the filet mignon was tender, the heirloom tomatoes tasty, the softshell crab fresh), but they were spoilt by inedibly sour sauces, when not almost complimented by the tastlessness of the seasoning. The sides were practically inexistent. I forgot the service. One adjective can apply to all of the (numerous) members of the staff: incompetent. To that could be added the adverb "arrogantly", in the case of the sommelier, even though that word seems highly inappropriate to refer to a person who argues that 4 years of age is old for a Gigondas. To wrap it up: it could be such a great place, and yet it is such a waste of time and money, as well as an insult to taste to dine there.

Poor service
The wait staff was corteous when they were around, but I basically had to ask for the menu after 15 min. of just waiting. For the check, I had to get up and find the waiter to ask for the check. They were simply never around. The food wasn't bad, but nothing special, very overpriced.

Great choice for Restaurant Week
My husband and I had dinner yesterday evening and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The view is extraordinary, the service was superb, and the food was excellent. There are three serving areas: a more sedate room that features a wonderful harpist, an adjoining room with high windows that feels airier and is definitely brighter, an an outdoor terrace that looked marvellous for dinner in early June or September , but not in July or August. My husband ordered from the special Restaurant Week menu, and was delighted with the cold corn and avocado soup, grilled lamb, and apricot tart that he chose. I ordered from the usual menu, and had a succulent duck breast that was cooked precisely as I specified. It came with excellent wild mushrooms. I also had the blueberry cobbler, which was served warm with ice cream on the side - perfect.
