Sal Oliveri and Caesar Randazzo had two things in common. They both owned very successful restaurants in Tennessee and both men were originally from the town of Palermo, capital of the region of Sicily in Italy. Bob Akhundjanov started working for Caesar in 2002 at Ristorante Italiano, a very popular spot in Nashville. Sal would come in from time to time and ended up selling Bob Sal's Pizza, a beloved pizza joint in Donelson. Under the guidance of Sal and Caesar's leadership and a desire to keep everything as authentic as possible, Bob learned every age-old and particular recipe from pizza to pasta to keep the Sal's tradition alive. As Italians know, Sicilians are very particular about their recipes. After six years, Bob moved on and bought what is now Sal's Family Pizza in Franklin, TN. At Sal's, Bob is the head pizza maker and is still involved in the day-to-day business operations. To keep the business in the family, Bob has a son that he frequently takes to work and shows the ropes to. One of the many habits that Bob has picked up from the Sicilians is that he starts every one of his days with a triple espresso.
