Baku Saffron Gelato
Saffron Gelato is a favorite at our LA gelaterias. It is also the flavor that most reminds me of my childhood in Baku, Azerbaijan. Derived from the dried stigmas of the delicate crocus flower, saffron is used in Azerbaijan to flavor everything from traditional rice dishes and savory stews to baklavas and other sweet pastries. Its presence is synonymous with decadence.

$12.00Fresh Mint Stracciatella Gelato
Fresh Mint Stracciatella is my twist on the traditional “Mint Chocolate Chip.” Instead of commonly used mint extracts, we make it using heaps of fresh mint leaves. We individually pick each mint leaf that goes into this flavor. “Stracciatella” refers to the fine ribbons of melted chocolate swirled throughout the gelato.
$12.00Jamaica (Hibiscus) Agua Fresca with Mint Sorbet
Nothing screams East LA to me more than the ubiquitous taquerias and their colorful aguas frescas, Spanish for "fresh waters.” As with traditional Jamaica (pronounced ha-MIKE-uh) agua frescas, this flavor is made by steeping water in crimson-colored, dried hibiscus flowers. We add real fresh mint to this low-calorie, vegan, and fat-free sorbet that is a staple in our LA gelaterias.

This sorbet joyfully shouts “California.” Every winter, we get the most amazing citrus, including a wealth of Meyer lemons. A cross between a lemon and mandarin orange, Meyer lemons have the perfect balance of bright acid and fruity sweetness. They make the most refreshing, creamy, vegan sorbet.

When we make this flavor in our gelateria, the robust smell of caramel leaks out of the kitchen and lures in customers. We still make our caramel from scratch in small batches, then churn it into our sea salt caramel gelato. Perfect on its own, Sea Salt Caramel is also the ultimate pairing to enhance other flavors!

Speculoos is a spiced cookie, originally baked to celebrate St. Nicholas’ Day in Belgium and the Netherlands. This decadent treat took the American audience by storm, in the form of a cookie butter spread. We reinterpret this delicious treat as a gelato, a staple and best-seller in our gelaterias since we opened our doors in 2014.

Americans grow up with Chocolate Chip ice cream. Stracciatella is its Italian cousin. Instead of chocolate chips, we drizzle hot, melted chocolate into cold sweet milk gelato, where it solidifies on contact. The resulting ribbons of chocolate give it the name Stracciatella, which means “little shred” in Italian.
