Big Surprise
I live in the area yet had neever tried mario's until last sunday. Had 2 friends visiting and they wanted italian food. We decided to stay in the neighborhood and try mario's. The food was very good..the atmosphere decent..the service adequate. We were very happy...until......i went to pay the bill and handed the waitress a credit card...the website clearly states the restaurant honors credit cards....she returned the card and said the policy was "cash only". How embarassing...i didn't have enough cash with me...the result was my guests paid for dinner and i was totally humiliated....this really spoiled the evening and cost mario's a potentially good patron..

Super Mario!
We spent the easter holiday in NYC, and ate at Mario's three times! I've hardly ever seen anything like it! the food was delicious, the service was more than excellent, and the people who worked there so open, lovely and had a great knowledge about what they served! I loved it. <3

"Heaven in Hells Kitchen"
Mario's Trattoria is a slice of Heaven on 9th Ave. When you walk in through the doors you feel like your in some small town in Napolie. The service is Fantastic. They have a full bar. The Food is ABSOLUTLY DELICIOUS! the Price break is great to. Its deffinetly one of my favorite places in the city.

good food, good prices, bad phone system
I live in the neighborhood and have stopped in a few times to eat. Friendly staff, good food, good prices--all around good. My only complaint is when I call to order take out--the phone system stinks.

5 Stars All the Way!
Delicious food that's easy on the wallet. The service was excellent, too. We'll be back soon, for sure!

Best Bang for Your Buck!
The person below me has no idea what he is talking about. The pizza was excellent (I used to work at a pizzeria)! The bread is unreal good! The prices can't be beat! We both had entrees and sodas. The total came to $22. That can't be beat in NYC! My girlfriend and I went there before the Knicks game last week. Needless to say, we will be going there again before the Knicks game! It is a short walk to MSG.

Don't get the pizza
We just moved into the neighborhood and noticed this place is always packed. We learned they have a brick oven, which means great pizza right? Wrong. We ordered the Marguerita pie and the cheese was too salty, sauce was bland and crust was doughy not crispy or crunchy even though it was thin. The bottom of the pie lacked any charring, as if it never touched the brick oven. I was so disappointed, we would have had better pizza if we went down the block for the $1 slices they sell near Port Authority. it was the most disappointing pizza I've ever had in NYC. I'm not sure I can go try their pastas after this experience.
