    Good food-maniacal host

My wife and I used to dine at Primola about 3 times a month until it got to the point where the boss' attitude towards the service staff and customers turned us off. His rudeness especially towards the elderly is unbearable to witness. There are better restaurants in Manhattan where the dining experience is pleasurable.

    funny experience

one of our "go to" spots and we like to order in (except they dont seem to send the free salami cheese olive plate) however just read someone else experienced the yelling owner/host. the other night on a saturday night, place was packed and he was SCREAMING at people, he should have been embarrassed. My husband & i were laughing. He even screamed at a customer who split the bill onto 3 credit cards... The guy was a total maniac, but of course we will go back!! oh yea, and the chicken parm not on the menu is awesome, looks like a thin margarita pizza!

    GREAT Italian - Bustling Crowd

The food is great, i've always ordered the special fish or some of the other seafood entrees. I have never had a bad meal there in the 5+ times I have been. While crowd is older than me it does not detract from the experience. Be prepared to pay real money if you want better than decent wine but hey its a restaurant with great food on the UES how many are there really!

    Shocking.....

I had heard great things about this Upper East Side eatery but no one warned me about the host, who I am told was the owner. To call him a brute would be an understatement. He screams at the staff to the point of embarassment. Uncomfortable to witness. Shame on you. The food and drinks were great. The service was nervous, but attentive. We'll go back when the "boss" goes on vacation.

    Food is wonderful, but....

the service is extremely harried, restaurant is always crowded with a mostly older, affluent crowd. Food reasonably priced but hold one to your walet for the beverages. The wine list is untouchable. Only Italian and California wines with perhaps two or three wines under $50.00 most around $75.00-$100.00. Howeverr, the food is excellent. Try the veal with mustard sauce for appetizer. Out of this world.
